Usually
South Indian movies are famous for their over the top action sequences with one
hero bashing 50-60 thugs at once, with them flying all over the place as they
get hit by the hero. Along with the unreal action sequences, the dialogues,
dance steps and quirky direction are what fulfill the criteria of a full on Masala South Indian film. The south
industry is giving heavy competition to the Bollywood industry ever since the
massive success of movies like Baahubali and KGF as they became two of the
highest grossing movies of India.
The reason of this success
is the huge audience captured by the south element of these movies, not only in
India but other parts of the world as well. But RRR turned out to be
unexpectedly different from the traditional Tamil movies as it had comparatively
less of the South Indian touch.
The story is set in the
1920’s when there was British rule over the subcontinent. The cinematography,
the locations and the sets used are all amazing and believable! The movie is
directed by S.S Rajamouli, who’s also the director of the huge hit Baahubali
and stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan both big names in the south
industry. Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt are also seen doing cameos, which adds to
the star power of the movie.
The opening scene is what
will get you hooked to the movie, it is brilliantly shot and leaves you
mesmerized when Raju (the character played by Ram Charan) catches a man while
going through a huge crowd of protestors. The story takes a lot of turns but
keeps you interested throughout as the plot is simple yet manages to capture
the viewers’ attention.
It all starts when the
British army takes a young girl hostage and the natives of her village send out
Bheem (Rama Rao Jr.) to rescue her from the shackles of the barbaric British
Governor. How it all unfolds is something worth watching till the climax.
Both the lead actors have
acted really well and delivered great performances, as they play two friends
who are left to question their choices and face conflicts. Ajay Devgan and Alia
Bhatt have aced their parts, with less screen time but strong presence so the
acting perspective of RRR is worth mentioning.
Apart from the acting, the
Indian industry cannot be completed without some powerful music and dance
sequences. This can be seen in the song Nacho
Nacho, where both the actors have danced their hearts out and one can’t
help but enjoy the groovy steps and energetic dance.
RRR was released on 25th
March, 2022 and went on to do a business of almost 1,200 crores INR which made
it one of the biggest movies of India. Its available on Netflix as well, so go
ahead and give this movie a try and you would surely be entertained to the
core.
